Gung is a palace in Korean. So it can be called as the Palace Changdeokgung Changdeok. This palace was the second palace in Seoul, after Gyeongbokgung. But based on the story written in the handbook, Changdeokgung which initially only as a place to live the king, turned into the main palace. The reason is that when the Japanese invasion, troops from the country in the east of Korea is a lot destroying vital objects, including the Palace.
Starting the tour this time, of course, must pass through the main gate with a long aisle, Jinseonmun. Like the palace in general, there is a king bed (Huijeongdang), the bureaucrats (Gwolnaegaksa), chamber works (Seonjeongjeon) to place a religious ceremony (Seonwonjeon old). The difference is the structure of the building, decorating until the division of space.
In Korea, the average palace has wooden walls with the floor structure of the stone. The roof using tiles of clay. between the palace and the stone wall is usually restricted. Especially for Changdeokgung, interestingly not a palace, but a secret garden, Huwon.
The park is right behind Changdeokgung. To enter, visitors who purchase a separate ticket must pay about 5 thousand won (USD 45 000). Although tickets already in hand, could not immediately enter, because only visitors are allowed to tour exploring. Tours are available in Korean, Japanese and English at certain times.
On July 30, 2012, I joined the Japanese-language tours. Because to wait touring English, had to sacrifice about an hour. Just then, there was an impromptu tour guide, who was a junior high school student named Lee. She was able to speak Japanese, English and Korean of course.
With the help of Lee, my friend from the Philippines, Sri Lanka a tourist and a family of French origin, can enjoy the beauty secret garden king of the Joseon Dynasty (1405). We started from the pavilion Buyongji and Juhamnu. “This place is one of the filming locations Dae Jang Geum,” said Lee. Dae Jang Geum is one of Korea’s popular series about the palace cook.
Because the title park, the area is certainly very interesting and organized. His trademark is a lot of swimming and colorful leafy trees. When we visit is summer, so go to the park with temperatures around 36 degrees Celsius, it feels like heaven. Moreover, the pavilions, worthy to preserve.
Huwon, built without changing the contour of the land. This park adjust the hilly topography Seoul. So the initial trip langkahan reached by foot in an uphill road. Only after reaching the peak Ongnyucheon or park, visitors can breathe easily, because the next tour is downhill.
Ongnyucheon Pavilion is unique as the only thatched. This area is drained times smaller, rather ditch that passes Soyoam stone. The water was clear and cool, soothing weather sweat drain. From Ongnyucheon can choose solutions that dive, or road trail departure. This time, I selected a dip because it’s faster to catch the next target Changgyeonggung.
