Naming the White House

George Washington was the one who chosen place to give the residence of the President of the United States in Washington, DC. From time to time this famous house repaired and rebuilt. Although the building was always changed many times, always face outside the building whitewashed. That is why the title had become the official name. For many years the building was named the “House of the President” or “Presidential Palace”. After the Civil War the building was known as the “Executive House.” Finally in 1901, when Theodore Roosevelt became President of the United States, the official name of the building iubah become “The White House”. The President and his family lived in the White House. There are also some office space for the President and the people who worked to help him. The lawmakers in Congress, namely the people who helped the President run the government, working in another building, called Building Kapitol United States.
